STARGATE: ATLANTIS

My obsession du jour. How could it not be, with all the best writers writing it? I'm not such a fan of the original show, but I adore this spin-off, and I will read pretty much any pairing, though I'm particularly fond of Sheppard/McKay. If you want a current list of *everything* that I'm reading in SGA, not just the best stuff, check out my bookmarks.

Complicated by danvers. One of the funniest McKay/Sheppard stories out there--there's Chaya and Canadian-rules football.

Layover by Aithine. I have a thing for pre-Atlantis stories, as you will see. I like this one just for the way John first sees Rodney.

Six Degrees of Transformation by Nel. Rodney tries out the control chair, and wackiness ensues. How much do I love the amount of plotty stories in this fandom? So very much.

Souvenirs by Miss Pamela. The best "return to earth" story I've read, I think (other than That One that made me want to slit my wrists--but I really don't want to inflict that one on anyone else). It includes John's lust for fancy cars, among other things.

Subterfuge by liketheriver. Yes, it's on fanfiction.net, and it's gen. But it's slashy gen, and it has a fun, smart plot, so you should read it anyway.

The Secret Life of Scientists by Julad. I love McKay/Zelenka like whoa, and this is a great story that follows their friendship through the whole first season, starting out silly and getting progressively sadder as it goes on, though the ending is happy.

Transcendental by Shalott. Yes, everyone's read this. And there's a reason. Elizabeth's out of commission, and McKay takes over the city--and most importantly the handling of the Genii situation. I often open up this story, planning to just read the smutty bits (as you do), and end up getting distracted from the smut from the incredible plot. Damn that plot.

We All Arrive by Different Streets by the grrrl. There aren't that many stories that really deal with homophobia in this fandom, which I'm actually pretty grateful for after so much time in due South, but this one actually brings up the fact that if Sheppard does have any experience with men, it isn't likely to be all that fun. And he stick-fights with Rodney. Rawr.

Absurdity Theory by Julad. Another McKay/Zelenka story, this one even funnier than her other one. I have never laughed so hard reading anything; even the sex scenes are hilarious. I mean--McKay and Zelenka quack instead of talking. How great is that?

About a Lamp by torch. Another story with a smart plot, *and* hot sex, *and* development of many minor characters. Love.

Mating Rituals by Karen Mcfadyyon. This is one of at least two stories in this fandom wherein McKay and Sheppard are turned into penguins. If there is anything more adorable than Rodney as an enraged, protective penguin, I don't know what it is. My favorite thing about this fic is the way it includes all the other characters, especially Ford and Teyla.

A Beautiful Lifetime Event by Shalott. If you haven't read this one, I don't know where you've been, but the plot is as follows: McKay and Sheppard have a baby, move in together, fall in love, and have sex, in that order. I don't usually do kidfic, but this is awesome, and does a great job of showing just what this 'ship is all about.

Sexual Tension by Nixa Jane. A short little story in which Rodney decides that he and John need to sleep together. Forward Rodney is funny.

Letters by Kylie Lee. Rodney in therapy after "Sanctuary." There's a great bit where everyone's playing word games--I'm a dork, I know.

Universal Constants by Alyse. It's a fic that convincingly gets Bates and Zelenka into bed (or shower, as it were) together. How could you not want to read that just out of intellectual curiousity?

Variations on Loneliness by Canadian Snoopy. Rodney/Teyla, a pairing I see absolutely no evidence for in canon, but it works.

Visual Phallusy by Zoe Rayne. One of the many guh-inducing responses to the "voyeurism" challenge on SGA flashfic, in which Rodney finds a quantum viewscreen and starts spying on his other selves.

Value-Added by the grrrl. Another story set in Antarctica, in which John Sheppard is a military slut. Mmmmm.

More Than Enough by tielan. Essentially a gen story, though there's some Bates/Teyla and Sheppard/Teyla implied. Bates wants to know what Sheppard and Teyla have that's so special.

Resolution and Clarity by Resonant and Speranza. Another voyeurism story, and oh my god is it hot. So so so very hot.

Forward Momentum by kageygirl. Alien jerk-off rituals made them do it!

Tempus Fugit by Canadian Snoopy. Gen, set during The Seige, Part Two. Sad and funny and so very Rodney.

Abstain by Resonant. Aliens force Sheppard and McKay *not* to have sex. And so that's all they can think about.

Beneath the Roses and If There Be Thorns by Julad and Shalott. McKay/Zelenka that turns into McKay/Sheppard/Zelenka: the first story is angsty, the second is funny and hot and has great Zelenka.

Oblivious by Shalott. Rodney and John being their clueless selves. And Rodney telling Weir about their relationship, which is so funny I could die.

Necessary Things by minnow. Minnow writes the best SGA gen out there. This story is about music, which is perfect for McKay, and about fixing John after The Seige. It makes me feel fuzzy inside.

Don't Ask, Don't Tell by Miriam. John has a bondage fantasy. And then he doesn't. So exactly the way I see these two acting in bed together.

When In Haldoria by Speranza. Or, as she styles herself, Lady Crackhead of Andoria, because this is the wackiest slave story ever. There's orgies! Magic leashes! Rodney dressed like Elton John!

Opposition of the Stars by kageygirl. Being cut off from Earth made some things a lot easier. Whoa, a story in which Sheppard is actually worried about getting kicked out of the military? How novel.

Long Way to Fall by sprat. And in the opposite vein, a story in which Sheppard comes out to everyone just because he wants to. I feel like this story would be a lot uglier if it were realistic, but it's still a good read.

Entity by danvers. Danvers is writing a series of AUs--which normally I don't care for very much in this fandom, because Atlantis is pretty much the coolest setting you could have for a story. I love this one, though--Rodney is a geeky college professor hunting down strange phenomena. And SG1 is there! Hee.

Intersections by Kaneko. The ultimate Antarctica story, with fantastic backstory for both Rodney and John.

Face Value by Minnow. As sweet and warm as all her other stories, but this one is slash, in which Rodney can read everyone's mind--except Sheppard's.

Advantage by Resonant. John has a compulsion to satisfy all of Rodney's needs, and he and Rodney take care of each other. I think this story hits every single one of my kinks. Guh.

The Silent Art of Watching by Tafkar. Rodney/Teyla is my het pairing for this show (only in a one-night-stand capacity, though), and this story has hot smut and the bonus of really, really creepy S2 Sheppard.
