ashfeather is my personal homepage, a place for me to stick my random bits of writing, and any original artwork that isn't part of my main comic project (anathema).

the page title . . . well.  it's a phoenix reference.  the phoenix is a very important symbol for me, for three reasons.  the first is, of course, the most well-known: the phoenix represents rebirth, since at the end of its lifetime it burns itself and arises again from the ashes, a very potent concept to be sure.  the second reason is that the mythic phoenix, at least the Chinese version, is composed of both yin and yang--light and darkness, male and female.  lastly, and most importantly, the phoenix gives birth to itself.  it is a symbol of ultimate self-determination, independence, etc.  all of these ideas are important parts of my own self-philosophy (quite dramatic, aren't I), and thus, the site name.

the current layout portrays the two protagonists of my upcoming minicomic, "Goodness Knows."  Luce is an angel on probation--halfway fallen--and Mickey is the snarky college student who she winds up following around.  They both happen to really love comic books.  ;)  As do I.
